Fat Dissolving Injections in Nagpur — For Small, Localised Fat Deposits

Fat dissolving injections, also called injection lipolysis, are a minimally invasive body-contouring option for carefully selected, small pockets of subcutaneous fat. They are not a weight-loss treatment, cannot remove visceral fat, and do not replace liposuction when a larger or more predictable contour change is required.

Quick answer: At Mayflower Clinic, injection lipolysis is considered only after examining whether the visible fullness is actually localised subcutaneous fat. Product selection, treatment area, expected degree of improvement, possible swelling and complications, and surgical alternatives are discussed before treatment.

Small localised fat can be the right type of problem—but it still needs examination. A useful treatment target is usually a limited, pinchable subcutaneous fat deposit in a patient with stable weight and realistic expectations. Fullness from visceral fat, loose skin, gland tissue, muscle separation, oedema or another condition requires a different plan.
Injection lipolysis can avoid surgery, but the scale of change is different. It is generally considered for smaller contour concerns. Liposuction directly removes fat and may be more appropriate when the treatment area is larger, multiple zones require contouring, or a more predictable volume reduction is desired.
Reducing fat does not reliably tighten significant loose skin. If laxity is already prominent, removing volume may leave the skin unchanged or make looseness more visible. Skin quality must therefore be assessed separately.
There is no responsible universal session number. Treatment frequency depends on the product, anatomical area, amount of localised fat, tissue response, safety considerations and the degree of change being sought. Response should be reviewed before automatically repeating treatment.
Planning Principle

The first decision is not which injection to use.

“A small bulge may be fat, loose skin, muscle laxity, gland tissue or a combination. Injection treatment makes sense only after identifying the tissue that is actually creating the contour.”
Dr. Pawan Shahane, M.Ch. Plastic Surgery · Mayflower Clinic, Nagpur
What the treatment means

What are fat dissolving injections?

Injection lipolysis is a minimally invasive technique in which a lipolytic formulation is introduced into selected subcutaneous fat. Depending on the active substance, fat-cell membranes may be disrupted and the treated tissue then undergoes a local inflammatory and clearance process over time.

The change is therefore not equivalent to suctioning fat out during liposuction. Early swelling can temporarily make the area look larger before the inflammatory response settles and the final contour can be assessed.

Evidence and regulatory approval are not identical for every formulation or every body area. Deoxycholic-acid treatment has the strongest established regulatory pathway for selected submental fat beneath the chin in some jurisdictions. Broader body use and other lipolytic formulations require more careful product-specific and area-specific counselling.

Important distinction: Injection lipolysis is different from external non-surgical fat-reduction devices, internal laser lipolysis and surgical liposuction.

The treatment may be considered when there is:

  • A small, clearly localised subcutaneous fat deposit
  • Stable or relatively stable body weight
  • A specific contour concern rather than a weight-loss goal
  • Reasonable skin elasticity around the area
  • A willingness to accept gradual rather than immediate change
  • Medical suitability for the proposed formulation
  • Realistic expectations about the degree of reduction

It is not designed to treat:

  • Obesity or generalised excess body weight
  • Visceral fat surrounding the internal organs
  • Large-volume fat requiring substantial contour change
  • Significant loose or hanging skin
  • Rectus diastasis or abdominal-wall laxity
  • Hernia
  • Glandular breast or gynecomastia tissue
  • Every cause of fullness around the chin, arms, abdomen or thighs

Which fat dissolving injections are used at Mayflower?

Product choice is made after examination. The treatment should not be reduced to choosing a brand from an advertisement.

Mayflower Clinic may use doctor-selected lipolytic formulations, including products such as Lipo Lab and CLINICCARE Reduce, when Dr. Pawan Shahane considers the formulation, source, ingredients, intended treatment area, medical history and expected benefit appropriate for that individual patient.

These products are not presented on this website as interchangeable with one another, and their regulatory status, labelled indications and evidence base can differ by formulation and country.

In particular, patients should not assume that the existence of an injectable fat-dissolving product means that it is approved for every body area. Product identity, provenance, composition, expected response, alternatives and relevant regulatory considerations should be discussed before treatment.

Treatment Areas

Which localised fat deposits may be assessed?

An anatomical area is not automatically an indication. Each zone has different nerves, vessels, skin quality, underlying structures and alternative treatments.

◉

Under the chin

Submental fullness can arise from fat, loose skin, muscle anatomy, salivary glands or jaw/chin projection. The cause should be separated before treating fat.

⌁

Small abdominal deposits

A limited pinchable pocket may be assessed. Visceral fullness, abdominal-wall laxity, pregnancy-related muscle separation and hernia are different problems.

↔

Waist or flank pockets

Small focal deposits may be suitable in selected patients, but broader circumferential contouring often requires comparison with liposuction.

○

Upper arms

Skin laxity commonly contributes to upper-arm appearance. Reducing fat alone may not improve—and can sometimes expose—loose skin.

◇

Thigh or knee-area pockets

Inner thigh, outer thigh and knee fullness need separate contour assessment. Cellulite and skin laxity are not the same as localised fat.

+

Other small selected deposits

Back, bra-line or other small areas may be assessed only after confirming that treatment can be performed within safe anatomical and product-specific limits.

Treatment Journey

From consultation to outcome review

1
Consultation

Define the exact contour concern

The location, size and type of fullness are discussed together with weight history, previous procedures and the degree of change you actually want.

2
Examination

Confirm that the target is subcutaneous fat

Skin quality, fat thickness and deeper anatomy are examined. Visceral fat, glandular tissue, hernia, muscle laxity or another cause may change the plan.

3
Planning

Compare injection treatment with alternatives

Observation, weight stability, external non-surgical treatment, liposuction or surgery may be more appropriate depending on the anatomy.

4
Consent

Discuss the exact formulation

Product identity, relevant ingredients, treatment area, expected swelling, possible benefit, limitations, risks and available alternatives are reviewed.

5
Treatment

Doctor-performed localised treatment

Treatment is planned for the selected anatomical zone. The exact method and comfort measures depend on the area and formulation.

6
Early Recovery

Expect swelling before judging the result

Tenderness, swelling, bruising or altered sensation can occur. The area should not be assessed for final contour while early inflammation is still present.

7
Review

Assess the response before deciding on another session

Repeat treatment should not be automatic. The response, residual fat, skin appearance and patient satisfaction are reviewed first.

Results & Expectations

Expect a gradual contour change—not instant fat loss

⌛

Early swelling can hide improvement

The treated area may initially become swollen, tender or firm. Early photographs do not represent the final result.

↘

The change is usually modest

Injection lipolysis is best suited to a limited contour correction. Patients seeking substantial volume reduction should compare surgical options.

≈

Perfect symmetry cannot be promised

Normal bodies are asymmetric and tissue response varies. Residual fullness or contour difference can remain.

↻

More than one treatment may be considered

Some patients require more than one session, while others should stop, change treatment or choose another pathway after review.

⚖

Future weight change still matters

Treatment does not prevent future fat accumulation or body-contour changes associated with weight gain, ageing or pregnancy.

◇

Loose skin may remain

Fat reduction does not reliably contract substantially loose skin. In some patients, skin laxity becomes more noticeable after volume reduction.

Aftercare

Care after fat dissolving injections

Product-specific instructions given to you at the clinic take priority over general website advice.

1

Expect temporary swelling

Local swelling, tenderness, bruising, firmness or altered sensation may occur. The degree depends on the product and treatment area.

2

Keep the area clean

Follow the written instructions for bathing, skincare and any dressing or topical care if these are required for your treatment area.

3

Do not aggressively massage the area

Do not squeeze, knead or massage treatment sites unless Dr. Shahane has specifically advised this for the product used.

4

Return to activity progressively

Many patients can continue routine activity, but comfort and the treated area should guide exercise and strenuous activity during early swelling.

5

Do not self-treat complications

Persistent lumps, increasing redness, severe pain or skin changes should be medically reviewed rather than repeatedly massaged or treated with unprescribed medicines.

6

Attend the planned review

A review determines whether the area is healing normally and whether further treatment is sensible.

Safety & Limitations

What risks should be discussed?

“Non-surgical” does not mean risk-free. Complications vary with the formulation, anatomy, treatment depth, sterility and patient factors.

Common or expected reactions

  • Swelling
  • Tenderness or soreness
  • Bruising
  • Redness
  • Temporary firmness
  • Temporary altered sensation

Less common complications

  • Persistent nodules or induration
  • Prolonged numbness
  • Asymmetry or contour irregularity
  • Pigment change
  • Infection
  • Unsatisfactory or inadequate response

Potentially serious complications

  • Tissue injury or ulceration
  • Skin necrosis
  • Significant infection or abscess
  • Nerve injury depending on anatomy
  • Allergic or severe inflammatory reaction
  • Area-specific injury to nearby structures
Contact the clinic promptly or seek urgent medical care for: rapidly worsening or severe pain, spreading redness, high fever, pus or foul-smelling discharge, blistering, dusky/black skin, rapidly increasing swelling, facial weakness or an obvious new smile asymmetry after a chin/neck-area procedure, difficulty swallowing or breathing, fainting, or symptoms of a severe allergic reaction.
Why anatomical assessment matters

A plastic-surgery assessment can clarify when injections are not enough

Dr. Pawan Shahane is an M.Ch. Plastic Surgeon with training in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. This is useful because the same contour concern can sometimes require a very different solution.

A plastic surgeon can compare minimally invasive treatment against direct fat removal, skin-excision procedures, structural correction or no procedure at all rather than treating every bulge as a candidate for injections.

Qualifications do not guarantee a particular result. Patient selection, correct anatomy, product choice, sterile technique, realistic expectations and follow-up remain essential.

Cost Planning

Fat dissolving injection cost in Nagpur

There is no responsible single online price that applies to every patient. The treatment area and formulation have to be decided first.

Cost can vary according to:

  • Anatomical area being treated
  • Size and thickness of the localised fat deposit
  • Product/formulation selected
  • Amount of product clinically required
  • Whether one or more areas are treated
  • Whether another session is appropriate after review
  • Whether another procedure would be more suitable

A quotation should therefore follow examination rather than forcing every patient into a fixed injection package.

Your consultation should clarify

  • What tissue is causing the contour
  • The exact treatment area
  • The proposed formulation
  • Expected degree of change
  • Likely swelling and downtime
  • Important complications
  • Alternatives including liposuction
  • The estimated treatment cost

Clear Answers

Frequently asked questions about fat dissolving injections

General information only. Your anatomy, medical history and the exact formulation determine individual suitability.

What are fat dissolving injections?

Fat dissolving injections, or injection lipolysis, use an injectable lipolytic formulation to disrupt selected subcutaneous fat cells. The treated tissue then undergoes an inflammatory and clearance process over time. The method is intended for localised contouring, not general weight loss.

Are fat dissolving injections a weight-loss treatment?

No. They are intended for selected small localised subcutaneous fat deposits. They do not reduce visceral fat, treat obesity or replace appropriate medical and lifestyle management of body weight.

Which areas can be treated?

Depending on anatomy, the exact formulation and its intended use, selected areas such as submental fat beneath the chin or other small localised body-fat deposits may be assessed. Not every formulation is appropriate for every anatomical area.

Will fat dissolving injections tighten loose skin?

They should not be relied upon to correct significant loose skin. Patients with substantial skin laxity may require a different treatment, and reducing underlying fat can sometimes make loose skin more noticeable.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no universal session number. It depends on the product, treatment area, amount of localised fat, tissue response, safety considerations and the degree of change sought. The response should be reviewed before another session is planned.

When will I see the result?

Improvement is gradual. Early swelling can temporarily obscure the contour, and adequate time should be allowed for inflammation to settle before the result is judged or further treatment is considered.

Is there downtime after injection lipolysis?

Many patients can continue ordinary daily activity, but swelling, tenderness, bruising, firmness or altered sensation can be noticeable. The extent of downtime varies with the product, area and individual tissue response.

What are the risks of fat dissolving injections?

Possible effects include swelling, pain, bruising, firmness, numbness, nodules, contour irregularity, pigmentation change and inadequate response. More serious complications can include infection, tissue injury, ulceration, nerve injury or allergic/inflammatory reactions.

Does Mayflower Clinic use Lipo Lab or CLINICCARE Reduce?

Mayflower Clinic may use doctor-selected lipolytic formulations, including products such as Lipo Lab and CLINICCARE Reduce, when Dr. Pawan Shahane considers the exact product, source, ingredients, treatment area and patient suitable. The products are not treated as interchangeable, and regulatory status and labelled indications can differ between formulations and countries.

Is the fat reduction permanent?

Treatment can reduce fat cells within the treated zone, but it does not make the area immune to future body changes. Remaining fat cells can enlarge with weight gain, and ageing, pregnancy and changes in skin elasticity can alter the contour later.

When is liposuction a better option?

Liposuction may be more appropriate when a larger amount of subcutaneous fat must be removed, several zones need contouring or the patient wants a degree of change that injection treatment is unlikely to provide.

Can fat dissolving injections be performed during pregnancy?

Elective cosmetic injection lipolysis should be deferred during pregnancy. Breastfeeding and other medical situations also require product-specific assessment before elective treatment is considered.

Evidence & Transparency

Why this page uses cautious product language

Fat-dissolving injections are not one uniform treatment category. Products can contain different active ingredients and can have different regulatory indications. Published evidence is strongest for selected deoxycholic-acid treatment of submental fat, while broader use of other formulations is less standardised.

The United States FDA specifically warns that several marketed fat-dissolving products, including Lipo Lab, are not FDA-approved in the United States and has reported complications after unapproved injections. An FDA status does not by itself determine a product’s regulatory status in India; it does, however, reinforce the importance of knowing the exact product, source, ingredients, treatment area and applicable local regulatory requirements before treatment.

Mayflower Clinic · Nagpur

Is a fat dissolving injection suitable for your localised fat deposit?

A consultation can distinguish a small injectable fat pocket from loose skin, visceral fullness or a contour that would be better treated with another technique.
