Laboratory and early clinical research has explored extracellular-vesicle signalling in inflammation, barrier recovery, extracellular-matrix remodelling and skin ageing. In real patients, however, outcome is also influenced by baseline skin, sun exposure, pigmentation tendency, active disease, the delivery procedure and the actual product used.
